Last month, Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service Suresh Kumar led the International Trade Administration’s first Commerce-led trade mission to Senegal, the main portal for business in Western Africa, in the last ten years. In 2009, U.S. exports to Senegal totaled $176 million.
“Growing and diverse economies, pro-business environments, and major infrastructure needs put Senegal and South Africa among the world’s most promising markets for U.S. businesses and suppliers,” Kumar said.
