Public Health
North American Public Health Institute
The North American Public Health Institute is a collaborative program of Wayne State University and the University of Windsor. This partnership focuses on urban health problems and provides an opportunity for comparative research into public health outcomes between countries that have very different healthcare delivery systems and public health policies, in the context of two cities with similar exposure and demographic factors. The collaboration is building on the existing public health research activities at both universities.
The institute is conducting a study of the affect of pollution on asthma in Detroit and Windsor, which you can read about here. The study is one of the first of its kind internationally and will determine how poor air quality affects breathing.
