Biobanking

The Biobanking Center of Excellence at TechTown is creating a global hub in Detroit for tissue-based biomedical research. This Center of Excellence helps Michigan compete in the world market for life science research by providing a core resource that new and existing biotechnology companies can use to help establish and grow their businesses.  A fully functioning lab will soon be available to researchers who want to carry out experiments using the samples and data stored at the Center of Excellence.

iBridge Biobanking Forum

Join TechTown on the iBridge biobanking online forum, where you can find the latest on early stage inventions and share ideas, research and knowledge. The iBridge Network is a vibrant online community providing a public, centralized source for unbiased information about early stage technologies and inventions. It seeks to drive transparency and access to university developed innovations that are available today as well as to field experts, ideas and information. Through the iBridge Network, researchers and those seeking innovations can easily search for and obtain the resources they need.

Michigan Neonatal Biobank

This repository of dried blood samples provides valuable research material for examining the origins, prevention and cures for diseases of public health concern. The University Research Corridor, the Michigan Department of Community Health and the Van Andel Institute all have partnered on this ambitious 44-year public health research project.

The biorepository occupies about 4,800 square feet in TechTown's business incubator and employs 14 part-time students who are cataloging the samples.

Tom Henderson of Crain's Detroit News reports on the Michigan Neonatal BioTrust at TechTown. Read the article here.
