Civic Ventures--a think tank on boomers, work and social purpose--today announced that Randal Charlton is one of five winners of its 2011 Purpose Prize. This annual $100,000 award honors social entrepreneurs over 60 who use their experience and passion to effectively address societal challenges.

On October 31, 2011, Randal Charlton will transition from his role as executive director of TechTown to devote his time to an initiative supporting baby boomer entrepreneurs; General Manager Leslie Smith will assume leadership of TechTown then. In his four years directing TechTown, Charlton succeeded in transforming a near-empty auto building into a thriving entrepreneurial community that has touched the lives of thousands of people in Southeast Michigan.

Paul Angott named Entrepreneur of the Year

Paul Angott was granted the Entrepreneur of the Year award at the Automation Alley Awards Gala October 14 at the MGM Grand Casino in Detroit. Angott is President and CEO of Angott Medical Products, LLC, a startup in TechTown's business acceleration program that is developing a highly effective breast cancer detector.
